Side-Hinged Garage Doors
The most traditional of garage door types, side-hinged garage doors are easy to operate and simple to maintain. Opening horizontally outwards rather than vertically and requiring no space inside the garage for installation or operation, steel, composite or timber side-hinged doors are available in a wide range of styles, colours and finishes.Side-hinged garage doors open upto 100% of the opening height, ideal for today's taller vehicles.
Side-hinged garage doors are installed in pairs - the active leaf is the side with the handle and is opened first. The other side is called the inactive leaf and is opened second (if required). The two leaves can either be a 50:50 split, or a 2/3:1/3 split. The 2/3:1/3 split produces an active leaf that is only half the width of the inactive leaf and is an ideal choice if personal access (only requiring one side to be opened) rather than vehicular access (requiring both sides to be opened) is going to be regular.
The inactive leaf is secured by two internal shootbolts (top and bottom), and the active leaf is secured with top and bottom latches.
